All good things come and sometimes they seem to go. And sometimes they refuse to go away. That happened here at the Toy Box. And I am very thankful for that.
When I first launched the site in 2011 it was to be nothing more than a training ground for learning how to blog. That worked out pretty well with “The Wall” but there was something else brewing that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with it. I knew that I liked what was happening but from a creative standpoint it wasn’t hitting all the urges so I lost interest to a point and shifted back into other things. The toys however weren’t going anywhere. They were still the tie that binds in my creativity life, both professionally and personally. But what to do with all of this in my head?
One other outreach was the “Saturday Morning Funnies”. Those little strips centered around the Mattel DC Retro Action Figures and a handful of others. What a great cast to work with! Time in setting up the shots and then going back and editing it just got to be too much. And then of course Mattel killed the RA line. I lashed out with video. That in turn led to the video reviews and eventually the pitch for my documentary idea “Now, Go Play!”
To be continued….
